The Scottish Polar Express is the name given to the train service running from Oban to Glasgow. It passes through Rannoch, my local station. The next station heading north from Rannoch is Corrour. Imagine sitting for hours on a train in freezing temperatures, especially at this time of year. With all the promotion to get us away from our cars and onto public transport there is no incentive to give it a go until the weather warms up.
Scottish Polar Experience on a train
Heated seats, heated steering wheel and temperature control to your liking is what’s needed at this time of year. With an over 50s railcard, there still isn’t a big enough incentive to ditch the car and let the train take the strain. The Scottish Polar Express needs to be warmed up.
