A sunset or sunrise?

A sunset or sunrise?

A sunset or sunrise? I like both but feel more drawn to sunrise, and there are lots of reasons why. But this sequence of photographs, taken in February, were taken at sunset and they really grab you. It was one of the most outstanding displays of colour and cloud formation I’d ever witnessed. Although I am no cloud expert, this formation must be rare? Or maybe it is the mysterious and ancient pull from Schiehallion!

A sunset or sunrise, what do you prefer?

We all have our preferences when it comes to outdoor photography. A lot of the magic is to do with being in the right place and the right time. It also requires patience because, sometimes, hanging on beyond your planned heading home time, can get spectacular results. Back in February, I stayed out late. I was out at the winter deer feed and stayed out later than planned because, as the sun set, the cloud shapes transformed and so did the light. The colours intensified beyond anything I’d ever seen. Plus, combined with the cloud formations, you would have been mad not to hang around and watch.
