Now is the time for some forward looking. It’s late December and many of us are having a quiet time between Christmas day and New Year. Reviewing the old year in 2022 and contemplating the new year 2023 ahead with a positive mind is an ideal activity for the last few days of December. Exploring how to look back with photography2022 will go down in my memory as one of the ‘odd’ years. We breathed a sigh of relieve as we left 2021 and moved in 2022. We were overwhelmingly hopeful our lives would return to a familiar pattern post-pandemic and we could move on. That didn’t happen in 2022. With 2023 only a few days away, now is the perfect time
Forward looking back -reviewing the old year and contemplation
At the end of the old year and the start of the new year is time to think. I love to take time out to contemplate and make plans. Moreover, it’s also a time I look over the previous 12 months, and take stock. What did I learn, what worked, what ideas failed, and what needs to be left behind and has no place in the future. I also find reviewing the highlights and celebrations an important part of moving into the next year. It’s a heart warming practice and a great addition to my notebook.
Looking to the past with Photography
Photography is a huge part of my annual review. Photos are a reminder of the beauty in each season and what the weather brings to us throughout the year. However, no contemplation is complete without time spent in nature: day or night, under sunlight or moonlight, still or walking. Besides, there are plenty choices.
Forward Looking to the New Year 2023 ahead
Looking forward to a positive practice, and best enjoyed on your own. If you take regular photographs they are a perfect place to start in your review process. Reviewing the old year in 2022 and contemplating the new year 2023 ahead will be worthwhile. Give it a go, you won’t be disappointed!
