As we head towards the end of 2022 the wintry weather of December continues to slow down life on some routes in highland Perthshire. Snowy wintry roads in December can be problematic for local, rural communities.
Snowy wintry roads are a challenge in December
Heavy snowfall on un-ploughed and ungritted roads made driving conditions tricky unless you had a 4×4 and winter tyres. A few vehicles had ventured out but the snow on the hilly, rural roads made it impossible for many cars and vans to make it to the top. Later on, by early afternoon some made it but many simply turned back to head home or look for an alternate route.
If you are going out in the snow, take a shovel, a tow rope and consider fitting snow chains to your tyres.
