Deerly Beloved Forever. Last month I wrote a piece on my lifelong love of deer and the need for a more positive narrative. We have two native species of deer here, and I see them most days. Scotland’s red deer and the smaller Roe are beautiful animals found in our countryside.
Our deer are beloved
People visit Scotland and love to see deer. Show me a highland hotel without some deer décor, a shop without deer-related trinkets for sale or a hotel with no venison on its lunch or dinner menus. Yet red deer are often labelled as pests with little to no value. You can read my piece here on the British Deer Society website.
