Wet weather of October

Wet weather of October. Scotland-wide weather alerts warned us of a danger to life as the rain fell and water levels rose. Some alerts in the highlands were extended into Sunday. Rain continued to fall. Roads were under water impassable in places, and rivers burst their banks inundating fields and nearby gardens.

Wet weekend weather of October

On an outing yesterday, I took photographs of the flooded sections of road, and hoped the rain would have pushed off overnight. However, it rained heavily through the night and briefly brightened up before the heavy rain fell once again. The road around Loch Rannoch used to have sections of sandy areas where people camped and had picnics. All these visitors spots and car parks have now disappeared under water. The loch water is now either next to the road or across it in some sections. The whole dynamic of having a lochside road has changed. All the photos below were taken from the passenger seat in the truck. There is no longer any distance between the loch and the road. Hopefully, if the rain stops, the water levels will recede. It’ll be a busy week clearing up after the floods and repairing the damage.
