Wait a while for winter. Just like this fox, sitting and waiting in the woodland. The fox was photographed sitting in open woodland, and close to a rural road. We were travelling on the road when I spotted him from the passenger seat. There was a rush to open the window, while I grabbed my phone. The fox sat and watched as I took two or three photos of him. Interestingly, after a few moments, the fox got up and casually sauntered off. No rush, no panic, and no backward glance. He strolled away into the woodland, lifted his leg on birch tree and disappeared.
Winter phone snaps
There is no doubt about it, Smartphones are useful for taking photographs. It is highly unlikely I would have been able to capture an image of the fox if I had my professional camera beside me. It would only have been possible if I had my camera and correct lens, ready. Also, I would have needed to set up my shutter speed in advance, checked my light temperature, and tweaked the ISO. And, kept my fingers crossed the fox would have sat still and waited for his portrait to be taken! The smartphone works automatically, no adjustments necessary. Click and you have an image. Of course, if you are in range of mobile signal (this is not guaranteed in the Scottish countryside!) it could have been uploaded onto Social Media.
Wait for winter is over
